Yep thats right JOGLE... and thats how i will feel on Saturday 4th October when I leave home in Nuneaton and head north to the start of the JOGLE (John O Groats to Lands End). I am doing this solo in the Move and intend to do the whole 1800 miles round trip in a week.

If you have followed any of the threads I have posted you will know that the car is hand painted in Nato Green (to hide the rust) and its never going to win awards like Best Presented, But what it has got (I hoe) is a good heart, having rebuilt an old scrap engine last month to replace the leaking rotten old engine. So far i have clock dup 300 faultless miles (no leaks) and lets hope this continues.

The plan is:
Nuneaton to Falkirk on the Saturday (350 miles),
Sunday onwards to John o Groats (290 miles),
Monday, south to Dumbarton (290 Miles),
Tuesday continue south to Gloucester area (350 miles),
Wednesday on to Lands end (270 miles),
Thursday North to Weston super mare (180 miles),
Friday Shakespeare County Raceway (140 miles)
Saturday race up the drag strip! drive home 40 Miles.

Sunday SLEEP!!!

Almost ready for the big leave (saturday) New wheels fitted with new tyres thanks to Dazran and next door with his tyre company, acid dipped and repainted the rims.....

Only issue i now have is the engine is making funny noise at the timing be;lt end I shall just have to see how it all goes on Saturday Morning.....

What tyre size did you settle on in the end?

Fingers crossed the noise is nothing major and Rambo completes the jorney trouble free (^_^)

Well i had a set of 135 / 80 13 tyres so i banged those on the rims, narrow i know but ideal for me for now.

As for the engine, not good news, sounds like piston slap its not the water pump or alternator, and sound internal like a tapping nose at around 3000 - 3500 which dies above or below that . Remember this was an engine form a scrapper cleaned and rebuilt, i didn't machine for new bearings or use new pistons rings, i used what I had with new gaskets and seals..

BUT hey so what I am still going.....

I leave tomorrow AM around 4 - 5am. plan is see how far i get ... if it dies on me then by the time i get the AA to relay me home I might still have time to jump in the VW Pussykat and use that instead to finish off the holiday....
