emo Short lived Daihatsu charade

We'll i desided I needed a cheap economical daily that I liked...so I figured I'd stick with Daihatsu, but wanted something new and more geared for ukroads(motorways)

So found the new Daihatsu charades(uk version of Mira Avy/Mira l275).

Found myself a relatively clean one with only 30,000miles on it with service history and everything.

As with everything i own I couldn't drive it about standard so in the 1st week it was off the road to be built.

I debadged it, smoothed the holes, lowered it, put some alloys on it, made a custom side exit exhaust, changed gear oil(shaft dropped out when removing front suspension), and sprayed the roof bonnet and boot black, and tidyed up a few lil scuffs and a broken wing mirror ect.

So it was all spot on and was driving about in it for about 2weeks and was a lovely car getting 55mpg+, and with tax at only £35 a year it can't complain.

However I'm feeling rather sore after a horrifying incident last Thursday which has totally written my car off and left me in a shocked and bruised state.

A guy hit the back of my car at speeds when I was moving slow, then whilst waiting for police he desided to drive of with me stood in front of his car!!! Got carried down dual carriageway on the bonnet for bout quarter of a mile....never been so scared in my life lol.

Anyways just thought I'd post some piccys of my much loved but short lived car

Standard

Sneaky lil side exit

The finished product

And the aftermath of the accident

Yes the spare wheel is still bolted down it has folded the entire floor and it has split the welds that hold the rear together and has bent the rear chassis leg so it's touching the tyre....in other words it's a total loss :(

So unfortunately I'm now off work, and skint and injured which has put a stop to all works and parts gathering for/to my Move and Zato (>o<)

Have you heard anything else back from the police yet? Still can't get my head around them just letting him drive off!

Yesterday they took my statement, and the audio recording I took, plus took photos of the bruises on my legs.

They told me it will take upto 4 weeks before il hear anything as they have to take the other guys statement, and then give it to the Crown Prosecution Service to deside what happens next.

And just had a call today saying my car is a cat C so I'm gonna keep the car and see if we can pull the backout and weld it up to see me through the winter.

Sorry to hear about your traumatic time. What a cock. I considered one of these too a few months ago for the same reasons you did. I ended up buying a 1999 sirion instead as its a bit bigger and a little quicker with the 1.3 engine. A buzzy little thing that is pretty fun considering I get 45-50 mpg. Still going well 4000 miles later.
