Datsun Sunny Van B11
A random lil project ive decided to start as i was bored :
The aim is to go shakotan style(LOWWWWWWW and wide)
Bought it completely standard
Engine runs sweet but gets a bit hot.
However the radiator is pretty knackered so im trying to sorse a new 1.
Apart from thaty the engine sounds perfect :thumb:
Just gona clean up the engine and bay and keep it orriginal
Then decded the 1st thing to do was remove the bent and rusty rear bumper and prep for smoothing the back
Treated rust in varios places and pulled a few lil dents out like the 1 on the lower valance.
Found my self a bargain with these genuin original wolfrace slots
I am polishing them up bit by bit wen i get a chance so they look all shiney again :thumb:
Will need a bit of arch flairing but im saving to buy the propa tool.
Its rather expensive, but will be worth it with the amount of arches i end up rolling lol
pulled the rear bumper recess out with a slide hammer to help prep it for fiberglassing the back end.
Attacked the rust on the drivers door and cut out the rusty bits which were worse than i thought.
And at the back of the door as some1 had fillered over the rust which revealed a huge rust problem underneith
Next i fiberglassed the holes over mesh across the hole
Next pulled the front apart to do a few things.
Changed the head light which had rusted inside.
This turned out to be a total pain as all the screws had totally rusted heads.
So with a bit of customising with a dremel they became flatheads :
I have bought a mk1 golf front splitter which i am going to make fit....just need to make brackets up now.
I Have straightened out the fornt bumper best as possible but the end caps are knacked but cant sourse any
Im also trying to decide weather i should, and best way too smooth the front end(de bumper)
On the to do list is:
lowering it...going to reverse the rear leafsprings and see if i can pake some landy shocks fit to stiffen it up.
On the front im going to have a fiddle and see if i can get some front coils off a newer nissan and moddify them to fit so it is stiffer and i can sit it on the floor
Smooth the boot and bumper recess.
Cut out the rust and Fiberglass the passanger door.
Roll the arches.
Get some stretched rubber on the new wheels to fit under the arches.
Tidy the interior(probs fit some bucket seats)
Finish tidying the body work and respray(thinking keeping it white)
And shall see how things go from there.
Not much new progress to report as been busy with other things
However i have decide to keep the front bumper after looking at pics of my old mk1 vw caddy, i dont think the smoothed front end look will suit the style im going for.
Still trying to find a radiator and some bumper end caps. but with no success...may have to make something up to get a different radiator to fit :
Apart from that, not much else has progressed.
But it has been useful, as its been used to move things around my garden latly...coz im lazy
Dude thats awesome, im mega jealous! Cant wait to see it slammed with streched tyres. What stud pattern is the sunny, they look like reliant scimitar slotmags.
I too had a mk1 caddy, i skipped the bumper on that but regreted it bigtime.
bus driving by day thrapping cars by night
Indeed neither can i
Hopefully i can get the stance spot on with these wheels
Stud pattern is 4x114.3
I was well chuffed wen i found them as there original wolfrace slots and i got them for an excelent price
I think removed bumper suited my caddy but wouldnt be right for this.
Heres a couple of pics of my caddy
That looks smart dude :thumb:
Ryt as we had some sonny weather i figured id do some work on the cars after a late wake up(heavy weekend lol) i adjusted the tappets on the move so it doesnt sound quite so tappety, and did some more work to the sunny van.
Unfortunatly i didnt take any pics as i just wanted to crack on lol.
But i have fiberglassed the passanger door and removed and treated a couple more littly bits of rust i saw starting to show up here and there.
