Ah nice one, about to message you on cappo.
We're looking at swapping out my current engine with the auto box, to my old one with the manual.
The plan is to swap the whole lot, ECU loom etc.
Just looking for someone who has done this before or could recommend a shop that could do this.
The engine was so much smoother and slightly more powerful in the cr22s, now running into engine issues in the HA21, I though my best option would be to swap the motors.
Obviously data is pretty scarce on the Alto worku front, so thought you cappo guys may be able to help
Very much doubt there is any garage with experience of doing the swap but how hard can it be
Before ripping anything out you need to compare engine and gearbox mounts, drive shafts, pedal box etc to make sure they will line up. If they don't then they will need fabricating.
Emily replaced a single cam with a twin cam so may have some other pointers to look out for.
True, in theory it shouldn't be too difficult, I've just had no experience of swapping an engine myself, the only thing that you've listed that I haven't checked is if the pedal box would line up.
Did Emily have a thread of the engine swap.
Looking at hiring a crane if I can find the right people to help, sadly none of my immediate friends have had experience with more than turbo work.
All just a bit nervous to start ripping stuff out, get half way through the process and get completely stuck.
If anyone on either forum would like to help I can pay fully in beer
if not I better start ringing around my local tuning shops
The actual engine swap probably wouldn't be too bad but the converting from auto to manual is a different story. With other more mainstream cars the advice is always sell it and buy the other but that doesn't really count with something this rare.
Pretty sure there is some info in her Autozam Carol thread.
